Franken Leads Coleman by 4,108 Votes!!

That's right. With 91.13% of the vote recounted, Al Franken leads Norm Coleman by 4,108 votes! That's 1,105,030 for Franken and 1,100,922 for Norm Coleman. Wow, let's just stop here. That's close enough for horse shoes and hand grenades. Thanks for playing Norm. We're just going to take our board and go home.

Um.......

Some fuel for tomorrow

The last 2 Mondays Citigroup has managed to land a few BIG deals.  Last Monday it was a $20 billion bailout.  This Monday it was a $10 billion purchase of a Spanish toll road company.

Poor John Kerry!

He wanted to be Bill Clinton's vice president in '92. Bill didn't want him.

He wanted to be Al Gore's vice president in 2000. Al didn't want him.

He wanted to be president in '04. America didn't want him.

China Will be a Winner in the New Economy

The following is an excerpt from a recent opinion piece of mine in the Wall Street Journal. For links to this and other writings, please feel free to visit River Twice Research.

The incoming Obama administration will face formidable challenges, but global economic collapse is no longer imminent. That may be small short-term comfort to the markets and Main Street. But having stared down the abyss, governments around the world appear determined to address root issues. The G-20 gathering of the world's major powers in Washington on Nov. 15 was only the beginning of a long and constructive process of revising the global system.

The Recession is Real!

It's official!

We have been in a RECESSION since December of 2007. All those months when most of the blogosphere acknowledged that we were in a recession, but Bush and buddies said "Oh no, we're not" have come back into sharp focus.

The best prediction is that we will stay in recession well into 2009 and we could go beyond that.

The solution that Paulson and Behrnanke are pushing is to print more money and feed it to the banks... banks like AIG and Citigroup and other biggies that seem to take the bucks that we print and turn them into big cash subsidies for executives.

Planned Parenthood supports Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State

"As first lady and as a U.S. senator, Hillary Clinton visited more than 80 nations, but for a majority of the world's population, her unique quality may be her gender. Senator Clinton understands that improving the status of women is not simply a moral imperative; it is necessary to building democracies around the globe. Improving the status of women is key to creating stable families, stable communities, and stable countries. Women's ability to control the size of their families, regardless of economics, nationality, or culture, has a direct impact on their economic well-being and that of their children... Senator Clinton understands that women's quality of life directly affects the major issues confronting the globe: national security, environmental sustainability, and global poverty."

Planned Parenthood, American Democrats, and democratically aligned world particiipants applaud the election of Barack Obama as President-elect, and Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State.

Obama Clinton Gates Jones Foreign Policy

(Proudly cross-posted at C4O Democrats)

I know there's been plenty of chatter lately on President-Elect Obama's foreign policy. In particular, I've heard the usual Beltway Pundits proclaim Obama must abandon his "leftist dovishness" and embrace his inner "center-right hawk" to be a "credible Commander-in-Chief". Meanwhile, I'm also seeing some progressives wail in despair over how Obama is supposedly abandoning them for "neocon-lite".

But what if both camps are wrong? What if today's revelation of the foreign policy/national security wing of the Obama Administration reveals something completely different? Hold on, because you may be surprised.

OR Conservative Activist Bill Sizemore Gets Jailed!

In what can only be described as something that is a long time coming, longtime Oregon conservative activist (and complete A-hole) Bill Sizemore was jailed today after being found in contempt of court for the fourth time.  The specific incident this time was Sizemore's failure to file federal and state reporting forms required for organizations he controls to maintain their tax exempt status.
